Dr. Emanuel Sevrugian Founder
Emanuel lived in Heidelberg. He was born in Tehran in 1930. He is the son of the famous artist André Sevrugian and the grandson of the legendary photographer Antoine Sevruguin. The largest collections of his father and grandfather are kept in the most famous museums in the United States, Europe and Armenia.
For 100 years, the family of Iranian-Armenian artists lived not between two cultures, Armenian and Persian, but within them. Emmanuel enjoyed telling the story of his family, which moved from Iran to Austria in 1935, and later to Germany. Having studied art history in Germany and having deep roots in culture, he himself had been collecting art, especially coins, throughout his life. At the end of 2023, he donated the remaining part of the Sevrugian family collection to the Sevrugian Cultural Foundation. A part of this extremely valuable collection, in particular the coin collection, was transferred, in accordance with his wishes, to the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan, so that it could be presented to a wider public.
