"Sevrugian" Cultural Foundation

The "Sevrugian" Cultural Foundation was established in 2023 as a charitable organisation. The Foundation aims to carry out charitable work, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of Armenian, as well as world art, culture, historical, spiritual and aesthetic values. In this regard, the Foundation initiates various projects and supports the implementation of such programs. It has cooperated with Matenadaran, supporting events dedicated to the Sevrugian family, with the History Museum of Armenia, donating a valuable collection of coins, and with other institutions in Armenia and Germany.

The founder is Emanuel Sevrugian, a citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany. The names of several generations of the Sevrugian-Sevruguin family, who settled in Germany, are of great importance for Armenian and Iranian cultures, art, and cultural heritage. Back in the 19th century, his grandfather, Antoine Sevruguin, was the court photographer of the Persian ruler Nasser ed-Din Shah and is considered the founder of artistic photography in Persia. For his services to Persia, Sevruguin was awarded the title of "Khan" by the Shah and was awarded the diamond medal "Shir o Ghorsh id" (Latin: lion and sun). Emanuel's father is one of the painters of the 20th century who brought innovation to Persian fine art. André Sevrugian's works have been presented in numerous individual and group exhibitions organised in Armenia, Iran and a number of European cities. He has received a number of awards and medals for his work. Emanuel Sevrugian, continuing the traditions of his distinguished family, has also taken care of its preservation and presentation.
